The Ruins of the Evangelical Church in Rudník

(formerly Hermannseifen / Heřmanovy Sejfy)

The church you see above is one of the last tolerance structures built by the German-speaking inhabitants in the Czech lands.

The church was consecrated in 1786 and served the local evangelical community until 1945, alongside the adjacent cemetery, vicarage, school, and children's home. Before the church was built, despite the bans during the Counter-Reformation, the evangelical believers from Sejfy practised their faith in secret, earning them the nickname ‘Rams.’ However, after the post-war expulsion of the German population, the church was abandoned, fell into disrepair, and the site lost its memory.

RuRu – Association for the Ruins of Rudník, together with the municipality of Rudník, is striving to restore dignity to this place and transform it into a space for meeting and reflection for passers-by.
